Backend modules
Expose existing APIs, home automation, service checks, operational controls, or custom device actions through a practical Garmin interface.
Garmin® Connect IQ™ control layer
GRemoteX™ gives your backend, devices, and services a concise interface on Garmin® watches. It is designed for the actions that matter when reaching for a phone is slow, distracting, or impractical.
What it delivers
The watch app stays focused. Your backend defines available screens, states, actions, and integrations, while GRemoteX makes the important controls immediately available on the wrist.
Expose existing APIs, home automation, service checks, operational controls, or custom device actions through a practical Garmin interface.
Menus, buttons, choices, and status values are provided by the backend, so modules can evolve without rebuilding the entire watch experience.
Watch-to-backend pairing uses a short-lived code and an access token. Pending pairing attempts are retained until they expire, without creating duplicate requests.
Architecture
GRemoteX™ is a thin Garmin® Connect IQ™ client paired with a configurable backend. It keeps watch interactions fast while state, policy, and provider-specific logic remain where they belong: in your services.
Optional local companion
The Android™ Mobile Agent is an optional companion module, not a replacement for the backend. It lets a Garmin® watch send a direct command to the phone, for example to trigger the camera shutter while the phone is inside a waterproof case.
Private deployment
GRemoteX is delivered as a customized solution for a specific workflow, backend, and operating environment. It can be deployed on your own server, VPS, or internal network.
